Our New Name ...

Our New Name - St Paul's Waldorf School
Over the summer, we have been working away at launching our new school name - St Paul's Waldorf School. You will see that our website in a few places still uses St Paul's Steiner School, please bear with us as we work with our website developers to give the website an exciting refresh over the next couple of months.
See below the official announcement from our Chair of Trustees, Chair of College and Headteacher.
We are pleased to announce that as of the 1 August 2025, St Paul’s Steiner School will officially be renamed St Paul’s Waldorf School.
This change comes after thoughtful reflection and community dialogue over several years. Around the world, most schools working out of this educational impulse are known as Waldorf schools, a name that refers to the pedagogy – a holistic, child-centred approach to education that has flourished for over a century. While the term Steiner honours Rudolf Steiner (1861 – 1925), the founder of this movement, many feel that Waldorf more clearly represents the living, evolving educational practice that continues to inspire educators and families globally.
Importantly, Waldorf UK – the national body supporting Waldorf education in the UK – and many other UK schools have already adopted the name Waldorf, aligning with the international community and helping to foster a shared identity.
This autumn marks 30 years since the founding of the Steiner project at St Paul’s, when Jonathan Knight signed the lease for our building and begun the journey that created the vibrant school community we know today. As we celebrate this milestone, we honour our past while stepping confidently into the future as St Paul’s Waldorf School.
We remain deeply committed to the values and educational principles that have guided us from the beginning. Thank you for your continued support as we embrace this new chapter together.
